Purpose of the programme
This Poverty Relief Programme will empower the youth to foster self-reliance and become self-sustainable.
- To empower unemployed young people with social, vocational and entrepreneurial skills.
- To provide unemployed young people with long term skills in capacity building, economic empowerment and vocational skills.
- To contribute to the economic empowerment of youth at risk, through job counseling, vocational, entrepreneurial and life skills training; job placements and practical job training opportunities.
- To improve skills development amongst the youth so as to increase their employability and participation in the formal economy.
SERVICES INCLUDE:
- ADVICE AND REFERAL
To give advice and to act as a referral agent for community members in our areas of operation.
- SOCIAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAMME
To provide young people (18 – 34 years) with Social Assistance to enhance their social well being
- SKILLS DEVELOPMENT
To provide young people (18 – 34 years) with Skills such as Computer Literacy, Job-& Life skills, over a period of one-year to increase independence and improve their chances of being absorbed in the labour market. Other skills training include Call centre, Upholstery and Electrical House wiring.
- SUSTAINABLE LIVELIHOOD
To provide young people (18 – 34 years) with Sustainable Livelihood, in the form of an Entrepreneurial course, over a period of one-year to increase independence and to escape a cycle of poverty
Programme Details
ADVICE AND REFERAL |
- Advice & refer community members without an Identity document or birth certificate to the Department of Home Affairs
- To follow up on these referrals.
- To give information to community members about social grants.
- To refer community members in need of social grants to SASSA. For applications of social grants.
- To refer community members to the Department of Trade & Industry to link them with their SMME capacity development programme.
- To follow up on these referrals
- Provide people access to daily newspapers, to search for vacancies.
- Employment assistance programme
- Career self assessment
- CV Writing
- Access to newspapers
- E-mail / faxing application
- learnership placement
- Seek learnership placement at private sector for trained young people.
- Learners receive a stipend at the placement agent
